Family Favourites

Good evening everyone and hope you have all had a good day. I would like to say hello to my new follower Susan and thanks for joining me and hope you enjoy your visit.
More rain again and really heavy at times here. Well that's the gymnastics club and the horse riding session over with for this week. My kids lead such busy lives!!
I had to do the" cleaning up" today but promised myself some time this afternoon and that is exactly what I did.
I have used this lovely image of these two girls which I think must be sisters. The background piece was distressed and stamped and then everything collaged on top. I have made the flower from Glassine paper which I really like the texture of and has been sprayed with some cosmic shimmer.
I have embellished this card with a stamp and some stamped acetate film strip. I had to add one of these lovely bird cage charms as well. I have also added some lace(which I dyed with some silk paints as I didn't want white this time) along two sides for something different.

I am entering this into the following challenges:
Everybody Art challenge #199 -monochromatic Brown
Crafty Creations Challenge#176 - Embellish It
Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 71 - create your own flowers

I hope you like my card and thanks so much for stopping by and having a look. Going now to visit you all

A Little Bird Told me

Hi again Back with my second post tonight. Jobs are all done and kids are sorted.
Todays project uses Tim Holtz tape sheets and a cuttlebug folder. There has been a lot of sanding,  painting and distressing along the way. The birdcage and bird have been die cut using spellbinder dies. The bird was cut out from a piece using the new summer seasonal distress inks. These are so colourful and blend really well together. I have placed some sheet music with bird pictures on under the cage. I have also rounded the cage and attached it with some brads for some dimension with a key charm hanging down. The birds sits nicely through the birdcage slots. The sentiment is from a stamp set from Art Journey stamps.

I am entering this into the following challenges:
Cupcake Craft Challenge 198-Birds of a feather
Creative Craft Challenges 2 - Tweet Tweet
Tuesday Alchemy challenge #20 - Furry companions
Creative Inspirations challenge 169- Anything goes

That's all from me for today but I do appreciate you popping over and visiting me.

I love the image of the little girl and her teddy bear which Tim kindly provided for us to use.. I thought this sentiment really suited it.(You and Me against the world- together forever) You can just imagine tahat is what she and her bear are thinking between them both.

Time for Tea

Good evening everyone. Boy has it been raining today and a good thunderstorm this evening.
Another card from Alice in Wonderland today. I was lucky this week to pick up a copy from an antique shop and was just in awe over the black and white pictures in it. Just love it!
It gave me the idea for this card and I love the feel to it. I know it's a bit of a dark colour and that's why I decided to add in the bold red. I have used a spellbinders die for the border strip at the side.
I love this image of the Tea Party between the three of them. I have punched some circles and added some epoxy stickers for the "TEA" This with the eyelets just reminds me of old typewriter keys.

Street Party and Olympic Torch

This is my second post for today which is unusual for me.Well I have had a fabulous time this afternoon watching the Olympic torch come through my town - although if I had of blinked I may have missed it. It was all over so quickly but something I will always remember seeing.
This is a book I have made to record the events from the Diamond Jubilee and in particular our street party we had. I have used papers from Portobello Road to cover all the book pages and added tags inside for extras to be put in. I have added some charms on the front which remind me of the day.
Inside I have now started to fill it and have lots to put in.

I am entering this into the following challenges:

I have also made another one for the Olympics for the children to record everything into and today we have started our first page with the visit of the olympic torch

Father's day

Good morning everyone. Firstly I would like to say hello to my new followers and hope you enjoy visiting me . Thankyou for joining me on my blog. Please don't forget to scroll down for my followers blog candy.
Todays post is a bit pic heavy I'm afraid as I wasn't sure how to do this one.
The story goes I made a pocket watch for my husband for Father's Day. Yesterday I thought it needed something to keep it in, so thought I would have a go at one of these exploding boxes. Took a while I can tell you!! I have stamped and embossed some panels and used the cuttlebug embossing folder to make some faux leather for the other panels. I love this technique and it works so well with most vintage looks. I have used stamps from Kanban and JustRite.
Here is another of the stamped panels:

And here is the lid of the box:

I think it has worked really well with the pocket watch :

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Compendium Of Curiosities 2 challenge 10

NB- please scroll down for my followers blog candy

Hi to everyone in blogland. Well I won't comment on the weather today as you've probably all had the same as me- brollies out again.
It's time again over at Studio L3 for another challenge using a technique from compendium of curiosities 2 book by Tim Holtz.
I decided to keep my flower black and white as I thought it suited my tag like this. I have used weathered wood and black soot distress inks with the acrylic stamping technique on the background of the tag. I wasn't sure how these dark colours would work at first burt I love them especially with the white.
These flowers were great to have a go with and can see me making more!.

Hi to you all. Well what can I say about my weather today, rain lots of it and buckets more of it. A bit of thunder as well - oh and some sunshine. Crazy weather today!!
I just adore this vintage image of these men and yes I can't stop singing that song either when I look at it.
I just put some pieces on my desk which I had been playing around with and decided to have a go at a bit of collage work with this-well that's what it's supposed to be!
I had to add the feathers and I thought these charms would be the perfect embellishments for it. Lots of distressing and grunging and really pleased with what I have finished with.

Parfumeur Card

N.B. Please scroll down for my Blog Candy offer

Good morning to you all. Don't know about any sunshine with me today, it's miserable and wet again!! Another day at my craft desk I think.
I have been trying to use some of my new stamps lately and this is another of the background stamps from JustRite stamps (Fleuriste Newsprint).
The trouble is I find everything so nice on them I don't want to cover any of them up.
The background was distressed with Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass and the stamped image was distressed with antique Linen and Tea Dye. The image was coloured using the distress markers which I love.
I have been wanting to try a rose flower out of the Glassine paper so thought this may be the card to have a go with. I don't think for a first attempt it was too bad and it has a lovely effect to it - really vintage looking.
I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Vintage pennant

Good evening everyone and hope you have had a good day. I have had a fantastic day at a workshop at Art From The Heart with Dyan Reaveley. We were doing Alice in Wonderland journal pages and it was fab. Will take some pics later to show you them.
Another play at my craft desk for this project and I wanted to create a pennant, but with a vintage feel to it for hanging up in my kitchen.
I have used Fired Brick and Tumbled Glass distress inks with white acrylic paint on the background. This is known as the Dabber resist technique and is my favoutite background technique of mine. When you wipe over the distress inks I love the way the white acrylic paint pops up.I have also used white embossing powder for the Big Ben image. I had an old map page of London and the Thames so I tore around it and layered it underneath. I love the effect and it was what I set out to achieve. Love it when a plan comes together!!

I am entering this project into the following challenges:
Cupcake Craft Challenge196 - Red, White and Blue
Crafty Cardmakers challenge 70- No cards
Our Creative Corner Challenge - Your favourite Tim Holtz Technique
Try It On Tuesdays challenge - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by and having a look. It really means a lot to me.

Father's day card

Hello to everyone and hope you have all had a good weekend. I had a lovely day at the show yesterday and bought some lovely new goodies to play with. It was made extra special because I met for the first time a good blogging friend Donna and it was lovely to have a chat.
Today I was in the mood for just having a play at my desk and this is a new stamp I bought a few weeks ago. At first I was a bit daunted by it as it is quite a large background stamp. I knew I didn't want to cover it up too much so this is what I came up with and I love it!! Really my sort of thing - lots of ageing and grungy. Again I have made some faux leather as I think it works really well with this sort of image.
The stamp is from a US stamp company "JustRite" and is the Vintage Travel Background Stamp. Really good value for the money.
This is an envelope card and this is the inside piece:

Once Upon A Time

Good morning all. I'm posting early today as I am going to the stamp show in Doncaster later. Hope your all having a good weekend and for me the weather has beeen a bit better-more sunshine yesterday than rain!!
Yesterday was a big event in my town. It was the annual Bed Race where teams have to pull a handmade bed round a certain route and then swim over the river pulling it. Not only that but someone is sittting on the bed. It's my first time watching it and it was brilliant.About 90 beds in total.
Another envelope card today and this little girl is just so sweet. I have used papers from K&Co and recycled some lacetrim and ric rac from an old blouse.
I love the sentiment as I'm not sure if she's thinking it - looks like she's wishing for something. I have added faux stitching around and a lovely little coat hanger charm.

The inside piece:
"If you can imagine it, you can become it. If you can dream it, you can achieve it."

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Fab 'n' Funky challenge#124 - Go green(Colour and recycling)

Father's day

Good evening everyone. Well maybe the sun will come back out next week when the school holidays are over - that's always the way isn't it!!
I have made another of these envelope cards this time for Father's Day.
The background is faux leather which I made myself using a cuttlebug folder, some distress ink and embossing powder. I am really pleased with the way this turned out and can see me making more of this. It even has a nice feel to it..
The border in the middle is stamped using a new stamp of mine from Kaisercraft(Tic Toc). These are fantastic stamps and have some wonderful images in the range.
The cog wheels have been die cut using a spellbinders die on a piece of distress inked background.
Now for the inside piece:
"Like all great travellers I have seen more than I remember and remember more than I have seen."
I wish I could get it to show up a bit more clearer. Will work on it!

Friends

Good evening to you all. What a miserable day weather-wise here. Non stop rain again! I took the kids to York to visit the castle. It's a fantastic place with all it's reconstructed Victorian streets.
Today's card is a bit different for me and I have made an envelope card. I love this image of these children and they look such good friends.
I have used papers from K&Co and added some die cut embellishments using Marrianne Dies. The iron gate is a new die from Memory Dies and I love the intricacy in this one. I cut it twice and joined it together.

The inside piece pulls out to reveal the sentiment.
"There is nothing as wonderful as being friends"

I thought this  went really well with the image and I love it.

I am entering this into the following challenge:
Tuesday Throwdown challenge #101 - Friendship

Well thanks for stopping by and having a look. Thanks for your lovely comments you have been leaving me. Time for Alice

Hello to everyone. Another wet day here but some sunshine has peeked through at times.
Today's card uses a new stamp set I bought from Indigo Blu. I really am loving these stamps and this is from the Alice in Wonderland set. The imagery is so well done with these stamps.
I decided to stamp and emboss this image which I think really suits it well. I thought keeping the colours blue would really work well with it and I'm pleased with it all round.
I had a little pocket watch button and knew it would be perfect for the card.

Flying High

Good evening to everyone. Hope you have all had a great Jubilee holiday here in the UK. At least the weather was kinder to us today. We managed to have our street party today which was great fun and everyone joined in. This evening we have been to the castle grounds where there was a large screen to watch the concert on and the lighting of the beacon. It was amazing and all round for me a day to remember.
This card today uses a new stamp from a set by Indigo Blu. I just love these stamps. I inked the stamp with various distress inks for the colour changes. The papers are from a Tim Holtz pad which I just love and matches the inks so well. I love these little camera charms and think they fit these vintage travel images so well.

Beside the seaside

Good evening everyone. Has your day rained non stop like ours? All that sunshine we had earlier is starting to become a distant memory!!
Well maybe this card will keep reminding me it's nearly summer now and that the sun will soon return.
I love this image of the little girls and how happy they both look. Papers are from my stash box and the postcard is from a Papermania stamp set.The sentiment came because I kept singing this song as I was making the card . A little boat charm just finishes it .
I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Sketch saturday Challenge#210- sketch
