Weekend Finnabair Workshop

Hello everyone and hope you have all had a good weekend.
I was particularly looking forward to today as I had booked a workshop at Art from the Heart with Finnabair.

I had a fabulous time and Finnabair is a very talented artist and a very good teacher.
Here is a link to Finnabair's blog.

This is a canvas called "Time Capsule" and holds a photo of my mum when she was young. I think it is a fabulous way to capture those memories.

See you again soon

That Eureka Moment !!

Hello again everyone and this is my second post for today. Please scroll down for my earlier one.

So yesterday I attended a workshop at AFTH with Tracy Scott and there are just some pages we create where we just don't "Click" with it. Tracy was super at spurring me on to finish this one
I was so determined to perservere and I just needed that Eureka Moment!!
And then it came!! Hurrah!!

Worked more on my background with paint and neo-colour crayons and random marks so it looked more blended.

Lots of doodling with the posca pens to integrate the shapes and then sitting beside me on my desk was a piece of kitchen roll which I had used previously to clean of a stencil and there it was!
I cut around the image and integrated it into the flower head with some gel medium. I loved it then !
I also added a couple of rub ons(notice the crown and the eye in the leaf)
Just shows how I got to use this quote:

"When Nothing Seems Sure, Everything Is Possible"

I am joining in with:
Mixed Media Monthly challenge - May Flowers

See you again soon

Gelli Plate background

Hello everyone and hope you all had a good weekend and a good bank hoiliday too.

This weeks Journal 52 prompt is:

Top 10 Lists.

I made a journal page and used 10  positive words as my lists. The background is made using the Gelli plate and then I painted random circles and doodled into some of them. I used the Dina Wakley face stencil(I can see me using this one a lot!!) in three of them with some black paint.

I am joining in with:

Love the way it turned out.

Hello everyone and hope you have some nice plans for today.
I am getting ready for another workshop at AFTH(well it would be rude seen as I only live 10 mins away!!!) and I love the place and the people there.

Anyway yesterdays workshop saw me doing a whimsical face on a canvas.

I loved how we did the background first and then added in our faces. It was so good to get down to some messy lovely play work again and really enjoyed doing this.

Our tutor was the very talented Tracy Scott and you can find her blog here.

Old Book paper- Crafts 4 Eternity challenge R#227

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good weekend so far.

I have been busy and attending a workshop at ART FROM THE HEART here in Harrogate and back again tomorrow for another one!!

This week over at Crafts 4 Eternity challenge blog we have a new challenge for you:

OLD BOOK PAPER

You can find all the details to the challenge and check out the inspiration from the Design team here:

Now I never work anymore these days without book paper or music sheets on my desk. I think it just adds so much to my work.

This is a page in my journal using this fabulous download image of these three boys. (Tumblefish Studios)

I have given them all a party hat with the book page and also used it to stamp the letters onto circles punched out. The blank paper at the top of the page is excellent for stamping quotes onto and help everything blend together.

Please pop over to the challenge blog and we would love for you to come and join in.

See you again soon

Crafts 4 Eternity challenge R#226-Wood

Hello everyone and hope you all have some good plans for the weekend.

We have a new challenge starting over at Crafts 4 Eternity challenge blog this week and the theme is:

WOOD

You can find all the details to the challenge and some wonderful inspiration from the DT here:

I have decorated a wooden book shaped box. I primed it first with gesso and then used acylic paints in browns and blacks. I used a plastic fork to scratch into the paint whilst it was still wet so that it had an aged look to it.

I decorated the front with some stamped leaves and made them dimensional.
The final touch was adding the Ideology metal plate and the little hanging key.

We would love you to come and join us and look forward to seeing your projects.

Thanks for stopping by and see you soon

Mini Journal Quilt

Hello everyone.

Today I have something a bit different. I have been playing around recently with my journal pages and fabric transfers.

I transferred this page onto some cotton fabric and have made a mini Art Journal Quilt with it.

It has wadding and a felt backing and has lots of quilting stitches around it. I also made three hanging tabs at the top so I am able to hang it up. Finished nicely with some buttons on the corners. I am very pleased with how it as turned out.

Art Journal class

Hello everyone and hope you have all had a good weekend.

I would like to say hello to my new followers and thank you for joining me here on my blog. I do hope you enjoy your visits here.

Today I was lucky to be able to attend a regular journal class with Kate Crane at Art From The Heart here in Harrogate.

We made two pages using different background techniques. One was made using brushes and the other using only our fingers- and yes I did have some lovely coloured hands but it was fun!!

Because I used the new butterfly stamp from Tim Holtz on both of my pages I was able to merge both of them together which I think has worked really well.

"Use your wings and don't forget to fly....With brave wings she flies" using sticker words from Tim Holtz small talk sticker book.

Thanks for stopping by today and see you again soon

Fashion House for Poppy

Hello everyone and hope you all having a good weekend so far.

Today I spent a relaxing day in my craft room and decided it was about time to think of an outfit for Poppy.

She had a few final touches done to her hair and a flower added:

Her nails were finished and some more decorations added to her shoulders::

And then it was time for her skirt. I prepared a piece of fabric and cut out some Poppy petals shapes. these were arranged over her organza petticoat and some beaded trim added around her waist:

Finally I gave some shoes to her from another piece of prepared fabric:

So as you can see I have made quite a lot of progress with this doll today and I am really pleased with the way she looks. Lots of fine detail to add now and quite a number of beads!!

Thanks for stopping by today and see you again soon

Wish On A Fish

Hello again everyone and this is my second post for today. please scroll down for my earlier one.

It seems like a long time since I last had a play in my journal with some collage images.

This months challenge over at Art Journal Journey is "The Sea"

This has given me the perfect reason to use some of my collage images from Tumblefish Studios.

I love this image of the boy and have added some cut out images of fish in his arms. There is also the other fish at the top blowing bubbles(circles cut from an underwater sea scene)

I must admit to not having heard the quote "Wish On A Fish" before but it fitted this page so well.

Craft Stamper Makes

Hello everyone and hope your having a good week so far.

This month's craft stamper magazine came with a fabulous free stamp on the cover designed by Riikka Kovasin.

I had an idea that this would be great for some little trinket items.

I made a brooch and a key ring using this stamp.

At first I stamped it using archival ink and then coloured using paints:

I then transferred this original image onto some canvas fabric twice. Backing them both onto some felt, I stitched around the outlines and cut closely around.

I attached a brooch back to one and a key ring chain to the other.

Both of them I added some seed beads around the face.

Brooch

Key ring

The colours do come out a lighter shade when transferred but I really like them.

A Trip To The Salon(not me !!)

Hello everyone and the start of another week. Hope you are all enjoying your Bank Holiday Monday here.

So this weekend I took Poppy to the hairdressers and also she had her nails done(had her arms and hands made!!!-lol)

I am so pleased with the progress this art doll is making and I am really enjoying making her. She is a cloth art doll and is around 18 inches tall.

Her hands have been wired individually through her fingers so that they can be positioned differently.(have to admit that was a fiddly process but well perservering for the final effect)

I hope you are enjoying my posts with Poppy and watching her progress too.

Thanks for stopping by today and see you all soon
