Margaret's Dream

Good afternoon to everyone. Now I will warn you from the beginning this is about to be a bit of a long post but hope you will stay with me while I guide you through this one.
Do you remember a while ago I joined in with a new challenge "The "whatevers" where you tell the story of the photograph given? Well it's time for challenge 2 and a new photo.
Let me introduce you to Margaret and her dream. I have put this tag onto a collaged background which is all made onto an envelope for a journal page. The front (here) includes various stamped and distressed  pieces collaged.
This is the back of the envelope:
I have decorated the back and wrote the story on here. this is how it reads:
MARGARET'S DREAM
Another after dinner talk.
Places they have been and treasures they have seen.
One day I will get away from here and travel the world.
No more after dinner talks. Just the freedom to go where I want to.
PARIS - I think would be my first stop.
Wonder if they would even notice if I had gone.
One day I will travel the world.

If you are still with me here is a close up of the tag. I have made this tag using calico fabric as the base and Tea dye distress stain to age it. Various stamped images using black archival ink have been stamped on to it . The photo was attached and some lace and buttons embellishments added. A bit of sewing on the machine tied it all together.

I am entering this piece into the following challenges:
The Whatevers challenge 2
Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge - what do you say
Love to Create challenge #26 - Add a tag(TOP 5)
Incy Wincy designs challenge - Anything but a card
Tuesday Throwdown challenge #109- doodling(story writing on the back)

Well I thank you if you are still here and hope it's not been too long for you. Thanks so much for visiting me and hope you enjoyed a bit of story time!!
Bye for now(need a rest after all of that!!)

Birthday cards

Good afternoon everyone. Hope your all enjoying your weekend. It's been a busy last couple of days for me. Yesterday it was my girls 13th birthdays. Yes two more teenagers to add to my happy home!!
They wanted to go to Leeds for the day and shop along with Pizza Hut for tea-so that's what we did.

These are the two cards I made for them - both went down extremely well I am pleased to say.
Laura I couldn't really go wrong with as she just loves House Mouse:
How cute are these!!
I am going to enter this card into the following challenge:
Joanna Sheen Challenge - Animal Crackers

Hannah's was a bit harder to do. There aren't many crafting items out there for her favourite thing so a bit of help from the google was required;

As you can guess Hannah is a "BIG"  Doctor Who fan and just loves Matt Smith.

Both girls really enjoyed their day .
Hopefully I'll be back tommorrow with a card or project to show you all
Thanks for visiting and having a look

Plant a seed of Friendship

Good afternoon to you all. Hope your all having a good week.
Today I decided to use some brighter colours and wanted to use my Spiced Marmalade distress ink. It's not a colour I use very often but every now and then I like to challenge myself with using something different.I also used the Fired Brick ink with it. The background panels are from K&Co.
I have used a Papermania stamp and a sentiment from a stamp set from Flourishes. I think it's a lovely sentiment for a card. I have stamped 3 different butterflies and doubled them up for dimension.
I have teamed everything with black cardstock and black ribbon.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

The Journey Is The Destination

Good morning to everyone and the start of a new week. Only one week left at school!!! hope you all had a good weekend - I know I definately did.
I've been at my desk this morning and had another inky stamping session. Love these moments to myself .
This is another old stamp unused so today is it's first outing. it's an urban stamp from Papermania. The background is stamped from the Tim Holtz butterflies set(you know the one I really love!!)
I divided into squares which I think has worked really well. the distress colours are Broken China, Peeled Paint and Wild Honey. I have added a ticket form Tim Holtz set as well and stamped a phrase inside it.
The elastic wrapped around has been recycled from a new pair of shoes this weekend. You know the type they tie them together with-I thought it would come in handy somewhere.
I have also made a shrink plastic charm stamped with a bicycle on. Now I don't often use this because it always goes wrong for me- But to keep trying is the best and it worked!!
Finally an Eiffel Tower charm finishes the card.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Cupcake Craft challenge201 - Tour De France
Charisma Cardz challenge #27-Recycle(elastic wrapped around)
Incy Wincy designs challenge - Dust it Off!(I have used the Shrink Plastic)
Make It Monday challenge -#98 Linky Party

As I sit here blogging to you I am in fact suffering- self inflicted but suffering. Remember me going to this concert(The Wanted at Ripley Castle) yesterday:
Well I had a fantastic time but all this young dancing or should I say jumping on your feet and pointing in the air has serious effects on your legs the next day - believe me. But well worth it !!!

A Little Bird Told Me

Good afternoon everyone and hope your all enjoying your weekend. I went to the show at Doncaster yesterday. Very busy but managed to get things which were on my wish list-pics to follow later in week. Lots of new stamps.
Tonight I am going to a concert with the girls. We are going to see "The "Wanted" pop group at Ripley Castle in North Yorks. Oh the joys of two teenage girls!!! At least it's only half an hour away so not much travelling involved.
Anyway I have been busy at my desk today and had a bit of stamping and inking time to myself.
I have distressed and masked one piece of the background paper with the clock mask. The background behind the birdcage is a Kanban stamp.I have pleated some ribbon down on side of this piece.  The bird and birdcage are Spellbinder die cuts and the butterflies are Marianne dies. I have embossed with cosmic shimmer glitter powder some chipboard shapes at the side and added some bling gems to the butterflies. In the bottom corner I stamped a sentiment from Art Journey.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Allsorts challenge week 163- DT Challenge inspiration piece(WINNER)
Sketch saturday challenge#216 - sketch
Stamptacular Sunday challenge #172- Wings and Bling

Well that was my little creative moment for today and hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by and visiting me.

Just For you

Hi to everybody and hope you've all had a good week. I'm so glad it's the weekend nearly and I am going to the show at Doncaster Races tommorrow. Is anyone else going?
I have used a set of stamps from Kanban for this card - which I have to admit I have had for a while and were untouched. Time to get them out I thought.
I have stamped them on some card distressed with Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire inks. I also layered the bird up a few times and love the dimension it has created. I made a background panel(which hasn't shown up very well I'm afraid) using the same inks and some white acrylic paint as a resist. Finally I used a white gel pen and highlighted some areas which I think overall it has turned out very well.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Dream Valley challenge36-Anything but square
Hot Shot craft challenge 10 -Kanban

25-xmas card

Good evening everybody and hope you've all had as good day. Well the Great Yorkshire show has been cancelled for this year due to all the rain we've been having. It's a big show up here and people travel for miles to come to it.
Another of the xmas cards for me today. If I do a couple at a time it's easier when the time comes.
This is another stamp set I have managed to get cheaper and love it. I stamped the image onto a distressed background(Fired Brick, Peeled Paint and Wild Honey) The backing papers are alll from my stash out of my xmas box. I have added a die cut holly corner to the image and stamped and embossed the number plate.

Noel

Hi there to everyone and hope you have all had a good day whatever you have been doing.
I am making a start on some xmas cards and I managed to pick up this set of stamps half price so couldn't resist having a play. This is so traditional and right up my street and love the number calender on it..
I have used distress inks for the backgrounds(Fired Brick and Peeled Paint) and stamped the image on. I then embossed the image with distress embossing powder in Black Soot.
The piece behind the image was done using the faux batik technique where you melt the embossing powder away using an iron. I just love this. I don't know how well it shows but it is using a stamp with the number 25 on stamped randomly.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Cupcake Craft challenge 200 - Number Cruncher
Stamptacular Sunday challenge #171-sketch

Summer Butterflies

Good evening everyone and I'm back with my second post today. If you would like to you can scroll down to see my post from earlier.
I know I have used this Tim Holtz stamp again but I do really like it and waited quite a while before I could get it. I thought I would try something a bit different and do some two colour inking with the distress inks(Fired Brick and Broken China). The background panels are also from the same set and I have embossed these using distress embossing powder(Fired Brick). I love this powder and love seeing the effect when you rub away the release crystals.
I am really pleased with the way this has turned out and I added the bunting to give a summer garden feel to it all. After all I'm not seeing many butterflies this summer due to all the rain!!!

This card uses the stamp from JustRite again and I think it is such a pretty stamp. I have gone with the vintage look with the papers and added some gloss accents over the butterfly. I used promarkers to colour it first.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Cherish

Good evening everyone and hope you have all enjoyed your weekend. I didn't quite make it back last night. This was the tale:
My desk was a mess. So I went to move everything into my box under my table(where I just put things when I have finished with them) and it was full to say the least! So I went to another cupboard to put some of it away and the same! Well the tale went that a night of tidying and sorting went on. However I did find a few things I have been looking for a while.
Anyway I thought I'd use some promarkers today. I decided to try a sepia type of look to this fairy. Not too bad I didn't think-there are a lot of you out there very talented with these pens!!
I have added some rock candy distress stickles on to her wings which I liked the end effect. The papers are from K&Co and the dies are Marianne dies.

I am entering this into the following challenge:

Give flight to your Dreams

Good evening everyone and hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I have been to a preview day at Art From The Heart in Harrogate today. Picked up some real good bargains and it's lovely to see everyone there.
Todays card uses a new stamp set from JustRite stamps and I just so love these butterflies. The weather has been so awful lately that there is no chance of seeing any for real so I'm creating my own.
I have used papers from K&Co. The stamped image has been coloured using promarkers and I have added crackle glaze over the butterfly.
I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Sunday Sketch and Stamp challenge 113- Mandy's sketch
Chocolate, Coffee and Cards challenge 16-Anything goes

I may be back later with another post depending on the time I have later. Thanks for stopping by and visiting me.

UK Tag

Good evening everyone and have you had as much rain as me!! More expected as well.
I have made this tag using distress inks(Fired Brick and Broken China.) I stamped the image and then masked it before inking. I have added some other stamped images which have been stamped onto some gloss paper and I used alcohol inks. The UK letters were done using metal foil on card and embossed over. These have been stapled on. I have also added some clock metal hands onto the stamped clock. There are some bright buttons added down the side and a crown charm at the top.
I also did some flicking with water on the tag for distressed look and it ended up looking like raindrops - wonder why!!!!

I am entering this tag into the following challenges:

Good evening everyone and hope you have all had a good day. I thought I would make a start on some christmas tags. This is a bit of a take from one of Tim Holtz christmas tags from 2008 but I have added to it and made it more my style with the image and the flowers.

Freddy and Alice

Good evening everyone and this is my second post for today. Now this is a bit different as I have just discovered this new challenge which suits me to the ground.
The challenge is "The Whatevers" and the aim is they give you a photo to use and you basically tell the story as you see it. I always look at old photos and wonder what the background is to it all.
I decided to use the picture in a tag and called it "SISTER."
I have added "You are not the boss of me""across the picture and the thing which stuck out to me the most was the size of her bow!!
So here is my tale of events:
Freddy was the youngest. Alice had already started school 3 years ago.

Freddy sat in thought
"the bigger the bow the bossier she gets, She's always making me play with her dolls and wanting to be teacher. I can't even count properly yet. I think the bow looks bigger today-wonder what her plans are when we finally finish this photograph.

But Alice is my sister - and I still love her."

I put the story onto the back of the tag.

I am entering this into:
The Whatevers challenge #1

Wonder what you think of the picture and the story you would imagine. Why not pop over to the challenge and see the others stories.

Thanks for stopping by again and visiting me. Hope you like this tag.

Create Tag

Afternoon to everyone and hope you have all enjoyed your weekend. Weather hasn't been too bad but still not summer!!
Here is another tag I have made. It's very similar to a card I made before, but I love this picture and it intrigues me a bit. I'm kind of wondering the connection between them all.
I have been playing around with some foil tape from Ranger and having put it onto cardstock and embossed a piece was able to cut a strip to place along the bottom. Home made metal and looks great when doneand painted with acrylics. I also covered some chipboard alphabet letters with the foil and was able to make metal letters. I have added the letter at the bottom of the tag-thought it would stand for "friends". There are some feathers at the top and a metal clock  charm hanging by some hessian string for a natural looking effect.
A few brads and a stamped ticket to finish this tag.

I am entering this tag into the following challenges:
Vintage Artisans challenge 1 - Vintage shabby chic
Crafty Catz Weekly challenge#139 - show us your metal
Here Comes the Boys challenge#30 - metal and/or embossing
The Crafty pad challenge #177 - it's natural(TOP 5 SPOT)

You may have noticed in my challenge list there is a brand new challenge started for all you who like vintage. Well worth popping over and having a look. The challenge is Vintage Artisans and the link is in my side bar.

Hope you like my tag for today and thanks so much for visiting me. I would like to say a big hello to all my new followers and hope you enjoy your visits here.
