Dragons Dream challenge -Black and Stencils

Hello everyone and hope your week is going well.

Today we have a new challenge starting over at Dragons Dream Tag It On challenge blog.
Helen has chosen for us:
BLACK and STENCILS

We would love for you to come and join in with us and you can find all the details about the challenge here:

For my tag I have been using the new Dylusions paints and stencils. The black paint is brilliant for all over coverage with a stencil and is so smooth. The new stencils are nice and large for a stamped image to fit inside. They are also great for doodling to be added around.

Please pop over to the challenge blog and see the fabulous inspiration from the design team and we look forward to seeing your tags.

Thanks for stopping by today and see you again soon

This is my finished journal page from today learning whimsical faces.

The background was painted first onto the page and then the face painted on top.
I used a stamp from Sheena Douglass stamps ."Be Bold, Free and Beautiful"

Pocket Tag card

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far.

Over at the Stampotique Designers blog a new challenge has started this week themed: SPRINGS.
The idea being that you use some sort of spring to allow something to pop off your project.

I have used one of the pocket tag cards and it's been lovely to play with my distress inks again(been awhile!!) and used my faves(Yellows and Oranges)

The main stamped butterfly is from Jo Capper Sandon and is the Large Butterfly stamp.

I started by making a few pieces of inked and stencilled card.
From these I decorated the outside with die cut foliage and flowers. I cut an acetate middle out. Using more prepared card the butterfly was stamped, cut out and attached directly on top of the tag image inside to mirror this and I secured the middle of the butterfly but attached some springs from acetate to the wings foir depth)I hope you have followed all that!!!-the pic will explain I hope!)

The tag can be removed from the pocket and I have decorated it so that it all still looks together in one way

I am joining in with challenges:

Latest mini album

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far.

I have finished making this new mini album this week and using lots of lovely new Tim Holtz bits and pieces.

I made a spine and then added a piece of thin elastic to wrap around the album and catch onto the Ideology handle. I hope this picture shows you what I have done:

The inside is more of a file folder style and I added one of the Ideology Folder clips to the spine:

The reason for the clip in the middle was to help keep all my tags safe from this year.

I really enjoyed making this project and just played around with it over the last few days. I am really pleased with the way it turned out.

The original idea for the album I found here and just adjusted it to suit my style.

Handle With Care -Stampotique challenge -SDC 191

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good weekend so far.

This weeks challenge at the Stampotique Designers Blog is hosted by Magda and the theme is "Circles"

I have done a journal page using Kate Crane's stamp "Guardian". I recently attended a workshop with Kate and I liked the way we used a frame inside the page as it brings it all together I think.

I have used the Indigo Blu bubble stamp and some embossing powder which looks black but has a very shimmery green colour to it.

I highlighted these circles with a white posca pen.

Tommorrow I am finishing of the weekend by going to Newcastle with the girls to see Olly Murs in concert.

See you soon

The weather has definetly brightened up again here and the garden is really enjoying the sunshine.

A Host Of Daffodils

Evening all and here is my second post for today. Please scroll down for my earlier scrapbooking mixed media project.

I have been walking through my local park lately and noticed just how much it has changed in so little time. There is a spread of beautiful golden colour from all the daffodils now in bloom. A sure sign Spring has arrived in it's own little way!!

I made the background for this journal page using Dylusion ink sprays and paints.

When I see daffodils I am always reminded of Wordsworth poem and so have included this on the page itself.

Scrapbooking-mixed media style

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far.

This weeks prompt over at Journal 52 is:Cards

I have done a mixed media style page about a books I am about to read. I made a library card so that I could include my journaling on it.

I took a gamble adding in the red colour with the black and white colours but I think it works.

I love reading Non Fictional History books and tried to incorporate this on the page.

Crafts 4 Eternity - texture

Hello everyone and hope you all had a good weekend. Looks like the sun is returning here today after a bit of wild weather!!!

I am a little late with my DT post this week due to the kids holidays but this week over at Crafts 4 Eternity our challenge is:
"TEXTURE". Please pop over to here for all the details of the challenge:
Crafts 4 Eternity challenge R#221- Texture
We would love you to come and join us this week and look forward to visiting you all and seeing how you have used texture

I know this will be a big favourite among most of you as I constantly see beautiful creations including all different types of texture on projects.

I was lucky at the weekend to be able to purchase the new set from Tim HOltz and as I so loved the old butterfly set he did I instantly knew this was also going to be a big hit with me.

So A nice painted monochrome blue background and this time I have added texture to the page with scraps of scrim and sewing on my machine. Love how it has blended in nicely.

Black and White Journaling

Hello everyone and hope you have all had a good weekend. The weather changed a little for us and has been a bit wild at some times- bring back the lovely sunshine we had last week!!

Today saw me attending another workshop at Art From The Heart here in Harrogate. I met up with my lovely friend Nicola and it was a fabulous day.

This workshop was with Kate Crane and was Monochrome. We used Black and White for one page and just added a pop of colour for the second page. This is something so different from all the usual bright colours we choose! It was a really lovely lesson and something I am definitely going to keep using in my journal.

I belong To The Sea

Hello everyone and hope your all enjoying your weekend so far.

Today I attended a workshop at Art from the Heart here in Harrogate. The workshop was run by Michelle Webb and it was my very first time working on a canvas piece. There are lots of layers to this which is what builds up the beautiful scene. I really enjoyed making this one.

I am going back to there tomorrow as I am attending a journal class with Kate Crane so I am having a very busy arty weekend . The perfect way for me to end the holidays!

Journal stitches

Hello everyone and we are having some beautiful weather here in North Yorkshire this week.

So I have managed to find a little "me" time during these busy Easter holidays and have been working on this journal page for this weeks Stampotique Designer challenge hosted by Coby:
"Stitches"

So I made a background using Dylusions Paints and collaged the stamped image "Angel Squared" from Kate Crane.

I sat the stamped image onto a black dollie so it would stand out from such a busy background.

I wanted to add some texture onto the page and added some hessian square with the star stamp from Jo Capper-Sandon on top. Here I used my sewing machine to attach these to the page. I also stitched around the page and stitched the little heart on the stamped image. There is also some jute under the image which has been sewn on to.

The quote is from Stampotique also by France Papillon.-"Your strong enough, you just don't know it yet-J.F.Charles".

Have really enjoyed this page with adding all the fabric elements to it.

12 tags of 2015-April-Tim Holtz

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far. I have been out to the Yorkshire Wildlife park with my family today and really enjoyed the day out.

I have been having a go at the Tag from Tim Holtz 12 tags 2015 for April.

I didn't have the stamp set shown so have used one from my stash. Also the only die cut words I have are Christmas sentiments so used the "wishes" from there. I have two 16 year old birthdays in a couple of months so used a vintage ideology number with the words.

My camera doesn't seem to pick the background up so well but it is a lot more blue in real having used Blue China distress ink.

Here is the link to this months tag:

Album

Hello everyone and hope you all enjoyed a lovely Easter time.

I have been spending a lot of time with the family and yesterday we went to visit the Beamish Museum in Durham. It was a fabulous place to go and so interesting.

Today I spent the day making this mini album using the papers from Tim Holtz Industrial pad.

Here are some of the pages inside:

Some tags I distressed and folded to make file pockets

Using some of the ATC postcards from the set and some stamped writing notes

more stamped writing pages

I am going to fill in some journaling on the writing notes and add some of my photos to remember the day.

Pop Out In Style

Hello everyone and Happy Easter.

This week Journal class at AFTH with Dyan Reaveley involved using collage. Now I have never attempted to use collage in my journal before so this was all very new to me.

Our words for the page were: Celebration, Transformation and new Beginnings.

I made a background using the Dylusions paints and then added this collaged image and some cut out words. I probably have a lot to learn about collage pages but was pleased I had a go.

See you again soon

Just For You

Hello everyone. The weather has calmed down here and the sun is out so far.

This weeks challenge over at the Stampotique Designers challenge is: Unusual shaped cards.

Now I am going to tell how much I debated over making this. It was as if I had never made a card before in my life!!! I used to do this in my sleep(lol)
(remembering those days when Art Journalling would have made me run for the hills never mind understand it!!!)
Just shows how much our creative paths change over time
I made a background piece using Dylusion sprays and stencils for all the matting and layering pieces. I stamped Bunny Boy stamp from kate Crane and added him onto the card.

I used promarkers(Expert colourists please look away) as it has been a long time colouring for me(lol)
I also added the star stamp from Jo Capper-Sandon and used the Just for you text from France papillon- Barcode text and cut it to fit the three panels.

There is also a new challenge starting today (Stamps and Stencils) which is a new mixed media challenge. This is very exciting for mixed media artists to join in.

Note To Self

Hello again everyone and please scroll down for my earlier post for the Dragons Dream tag It On challenge today.

Another page in my journal and still continuing experimenting with a more free style background.

I have used the Dina Wakley stamp - silhouette Script and masked it three times.

I was inspired by a quote today I saw here:

Now She had Nothing To Lose, She Was free"- The note to self is -to let go of perfection!

I was feeling brave so wrote my quote onto the page around the circle.

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far.

Today sees a new challenge starting over at Dragons Dream tag It On challenge and this fortnight May has chosen for us:
"A Rainbow Of Colour"

I think we are all hoping for a bit more colour at the moment due to this miserable weather here in the UK we are having!!

I have used Dylusions ink sprays for the background(so very vibrant in colours) and a variety of Wendy Vecchi stamps.

Please pop over to the challenge blog here and check out the fabulous work from the DT members. We would really love for you to come and join in with us too!
