Sketchy Birds

Hello everyone and I would like to say hello to all my new followers of late and thank you for joining me here on my blog.

Another play in my journal today and I'm still not confident about pink!!! I think we have to use some things out of our comfort zone sometimes as it is how we learn on our journey. May take me a bit of time(lol).

I have made the background with Dylusions paints and added the stamped Sketchy Birds from Dina Wakley stamp set.

I have also used some text and music sheets collaged in the background.

Did you hear about the rose?

Hello everyone .

Today has been a play in my journal and I recently came across this poem here.
I really liked the words and spoke of courage and persistence to me through hardship.

I decided to have a go at a page with this and use a stamped image into it. I have used Dylusion paints and just free styled it as I went along.

Journal 52- week 13- Spring clean

Hello again everyone and please scroll down for my earlier post today.

This weeks challenge prompt at Journal 52 is:
"Spring Clean"

I wondered for a bit about this prompt and then liked this stamp from Dina Wakley and mainly the words written inside it.

"You Have To Make Room For Growth"

I started thinking about spring cleaning myself- banishing negativity and allowing creativity instead. I have recently just been enjoying myself just playing in my journal and if it doesn't work - so be it!! But sometimes I think to much about creating perfection and stops me from enjoying the process of making art.

I left the page as it is as I feel it is finished now and makes a statement to me.

See you soon

Handle With Care

Hello again everyone and this is my second post for today.
This weeks challenge over at the Stampotique designers challenge blog is: "Favourite Backgrounds"

I love the use of White Space on journal pages but is something I have had to learn as it is to me the difference between White Space and my page not looking finished!!

My favourite mediums for a background are Amsterdam paints in these two colours. I always love to add stencils and background stamps blending them in along the way. Another thing I love to use on my backgrounds are Dylusions ink sprays and love to let them run and drip down the page.
The final touch to my backgrounds have to have paint splatters!! Love them!

I have to add doodling using a white signo pen and black stabile pencil.

I have chosen to use the white space on this journal page and have added the stamp-Guardian- which is one of the new releases from Kate Crane for Stampotique. I have added the "Handle With care" quote also from a Stampotique stamp set.

Tim Holtz tag - March 2015

Hello everyone and hope your all well. I have to say SNOW here this morning was not something I expected to see!

I would like to say hello to all my new followers of late and welcome to my blog. I hope you find your visits enjoyable and thank you for joining me.

So onto this months tag with Tim Holtz.

I don't know what is was with me this month but I just had some trouble getting this one to work - this is actually my 4th attempt. I think I am just being to hard on myself and a little bit on the fussy side!!! I didn't have the butterfly stamp used in the tutorial so opted for this rose stamp from La Blanche.

Excuse the lopsided pic but I had to go outside and angle it as I could not stop the black embossing powder from reflecting of the camera!!

I perservered and finished it and the techniques I will surely have another go at some day.

If your interested in this month's tag it can be found here:

Happy Easter and WOYWDW #303

Hello everyone and hope your week is going well so far. Lovely sunshine again here just now(however yesterday randomly threw in some Hailstone at lunchtime!!!)

If you followed my post yesterday you will have seen me trying an exercise from the New Dina Wakley book.
So feeling more confident I decided to venture onto a page of my own. I created a background with paints, inks and stencils and then added images from the Dina Wakley stamps(scribbly birds).

I needed an Easter card and really liked this journal page. So I decided to scan the page into my computer and make a print from it. A black layer around really popped it up and matted it onto a card base. I added a rubber stamped greeting and was really pleased with the results.

There is a slight difference in colours when printed on the computer but I like the contrast of the brights on the journal page and the more subtle on the card.

And today it is time for WOYWDW with Julia and time to share our creative areas.

WOYWDW #303

I am starting to practice sketches of faces on mop up pages and this was my first one last night. I also have Tim Holtz Tag for this month to try so hence the Distress paints and stamp.

I am joining in with Journal page with:

And my card :

Looking forward to visiting all your blogs and seeing what creativity is going on.

Thanks for stopping by and see you soon

All things bright and beautiful...

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far. The weather is very nice at the moment and it feels like spring has arrived in it's own way.

I recently purchased Dina Wakley's new book - ART JOURNAL COURAGE- and after attending the workshop with Dina this weekend I thought I would have a go at an exercise from this book.
This page was made using the step by step instructions from the book. The instructions were easy to follow and very well explained.

After doing this exercise I do feel more confident in using these ideas and making some more pages in my journal with this style. I even felt confident to do a little writing!!

"all things bright and beautiful , all creatures great and small".

Dina wakley Workshop

Hello everyone and hope you all have good plans for the week ahead.

What a busy day it was for me yesterday. I was very lucky to be able to attend a workshop at Art from the Heart with the wonderful Dina Wakley.

It was a very full on class and so much to take in and learn but fabulous to attend.

Here are two out of the three pages we did. The six pages in total were interactive with each other using windows and doors.

This was a very new style of journaling to me and very free flow style work but still with boundaries to connect it all.

Thanks for stopping by today and see you soon

Keep Calm and Have a Cup of Tea

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good weekend.

This weeks challenge over at the Stampotique designers challenge blog is the theme:
"USE NEON COLOURS"

I have used one of the fabulous new stamps (RUFF) from the new stamp range by the very talented Kate Crane for Stampotique.

I have used Neon Acrylics paints for the background and mixed some of the paints with texture paste through a Tim Holtz Stencil down the sides.

Lots of random stamping and splatters all added to the page.

Now Neon colours really did take me out of my comfort zone so there was only one thing to do:
Keep Calm and Have a Cup of Tea"

So I have also been trying to catch up with some Life Book 2015 lessons which I have missed.
Week 10 - Layered hearts.

I have again used my new Dylusions Paints and Dyan Reaveley's blocking technique.
I attached six shapes in the form of a pinwheel with a brad in the centre so it could spin.
I love the dramatic black background with these colours.

I have used distress inks(Broken China and Worn Lipstick) for my card and love these shades. The stamp is from Stampers Anonymous which is a big favourite of mine and I have used the Tim Holtz Tattered florals to make some flower embellishments

Positive and Reverse

Hello everyone and hope your all well.

So I have had a bit of the missing mojo case this week!!! Hope it finds it's way home soon and if you see it direct it to North Yorkshire please!!!!!

A great way to keep something going on is creating tags and no actual plan!

I took two tags and made the same backgrounds using the Dylusions paints and Dyan Reaveley's blocking technique.
I used the new Dylusions stencils and on one I used the positive shape and on the other I used the relief part.

Added a stamped Dylusions image in the shapes and set doodling around.

Love how the two tags started the same but look so different when finished.

Dragons Dream Tag It On Challenge #187- Toffee and lace

Hello everyone and hope you are all having a good week.

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Dragons Dream tag It On challenge. Julie Ann is our host for this fortnight and the theme she has chosen is:

"Toffee and Lace"

I will admit to not having inked this fabulous Stamper's Anonymous stamp for quite some time now so it was a pleasure to use it again as it has always been a big favourite of mine.

I used Adirondack ink for the base colour and added some Wild Honey Distress ink to warm the colour.
A few little embellishments I think finished the tag nicely.

We would all love for you to come and play along with us. All media welcome on your tags but just remember there has to be at least one stamped image(no digis) on there.

You can find all the details to the challenge here:

Hope to see you there and thanks for stopping by.

Silouetted Women

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far. I feel I have been really slow at blogging lately and catching up with you all.
Life gets a bit busy at time but hopefully things are slowing down for me now and I am going to catch up with you all!!!
This weekend saw me at Art from the Heart shop where they were holding their open day and showcasing all their upcoming workshops.
I attended one taught by Tracy Scott and my journal background is made using her technique with the circles. I used the fabulous new Dylusions paints for colour and the wonderful Silouetted Women stamps by Dina Wakley. I stamped the woman and masked it to repeat it 3 times within the background.

This weeks prompt over at Journal 52-week 11 is "Just Write"
I have added the stamps from Dina Wakley (handwritten Quotes) and also I hand wrote a quote at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for stopping by today and see you soon

Our theme for this week is:

My regular followers will remember this painting I did a couple of weeks ago. I thought it would be a lovely idea to send my mum a print of this painting on a card so she can have a card with a piece of my artwork on it- I thought it would be something different.

Please pop over to the challenge blog here and take a look at the wonderful inspiration from the Design Team. We would love you to come and join in with us this week.

Cover up !

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good start to the week.
I have been having another play in my journal with the new Dylusions paints. I have been having a go at using the stencils and then colouring out the background with the black paint so essentially covering up my patchwork background and leaving highlighted areas to come through the keyhole stencil shape.
I have stamped the Dylusions stamped images onto white paper and then collaged them into the keyholes. I also used the white paint and stencilled circles so I could add doodling in the background as well.

Journal Page

Hello everyone and hope your all ok.

Sorry for not having been around much lately but I have been quite busy.

This weekend saw me travelling to Glasgow for the Hobbycratfs show and then yesterday I attended a regular art journaling class at AFTH with Dyan Revealey.
In this class Dyan taught us a background patchwork technique using the new Dylusion paints(I am just so in love with these paints!!!).

I then used a stencil with different sized circles and painted them over the background using black and white. I stamped numbers into the circles as a pathway for the feet at the top of the page.

I am hoping to get round to visiting you all later and catching up.
See you soon

Hello everyone. Hope your all having a good week so far.

It is time for another new challenge starting over at Dragons Dream tag It On challenge and this fortnight Gabrielle has chosen:
"WHITE and a NUMBER"

I have used some of the Sheena Douglass flower stamps(Dahlia). I stamped straight onto the white tag and then masked the first flower to stamp another one behind. Masking the second one as well I added some weathere wood  distress ink. I have used a kaisercraft bingo stamp and added a few embellishments.

We would love it if you would come and join us in this challenge.

March Art Calendar Pages

Hello everyone and here we are with another new week. I don't know much about spring arriving as at present it is snowing here in North Yorkshire! The Snowdrop flowers are feeling at home.

I have been so lucky and have been able to get the full set of the new Dylusions Paints. Wow such fabulous colours and you can use them with the Dylusions ink sprays.

So a new month means new pages in my Art Journal Calendar and I wanted some spring colours for this. I have used the paints and sprays for the flowers and the paints and stencils for the other side.
