Small stitches

Hello everyone and here's to the start of a new week and also the end of February!1 I think the months are going quick!

Sorry for having been a bit absent but I have been busy with college. So I had a free day and thought I would do some easy random sewing.
This little square measures 2x2 inches and is sewn onto a little piece of one of my printed background journal pages . I  love doing this sort of thing as I set out with no rules and have no idea what I am going to finish with. But I love it !!

Have another busy week ahead of me so will be fitting in crafting probably on the train(lol)!!!
Hoping to get round to visiting you all now and having a catch up.
Thanks for stopping by and see you soon

Journal page

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good weekend so far.

Today I was lucky to attend a workshop at AFTH with Tracy Scott and her fast and fabulous journal class.
This was one of my favourite pages I did today and really was a fast one too!!

I loved it so much that I have made a quick fabric postcard from it and added some hand stitching and beads.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting today and see you soon

Fabric mail art

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far. We have had a few snow flurries lately but nothing that really settles and stays.
I am on half term this week from college although I have a fair bit of week to keep on going with.

So back to last Sunday at AFTH with journal class with Kate Crane. I made some backgrounds using the Gelli Plate. Here is one of them:

I was wondering what I could put on it when I thought it would be lovely to try and see if it would work for some mail art I have been planning on doing.
This background has been printed onto silk fabric and then divided into postcard size pieces.
Along with hand stitching, trims and a canvas backed postcard piece there it is !!

Journal class workshop

Hello everyone and hope you have had a good weekend. I have had a fabulous one with two workshops at Art From the Heart here in Harrogate.

I have to finish my canvas from yesterday with the fabulous Michelle Webb so will show you that project at a later date.
However saw a regular journal class with the very talented  Kate Crane. I love these workshops as there is such a relaxed atmosphere and you learn so much from the tutors.
You can visit Kate Crane's blog here at this link and see her febulous work.

This time Kate was showing us different ways to make lovely painted backgrounds using our Gelli Plate. Now lots of my regular followers will, know that I do love using my Gelli Plate and today was no exception !

This was one of those pages where it was just fabulous to sit all day and just play with and add as I went along. Love it!

Life Book 2016 - Creativity takes courage

Hello everyone and hope your having a good week so far.

I recently joined back up with Life Book and have been going through the lessons which I have missed. This was a warm up lesson as the course started.

This is a painted background using Neocolour watercolour crayons and a few stencils. I love making random pieces like this.

I am back at college tomorrow for the next few days so little may be done in the craft room until the weekend now. Have a good week and thanks for stopping by.

costume making Steampunk style

Hello everyone and hope you have some good plans for the week ahead.

I am sharing some college work with you today on here.

Today I have spent time in my sewing room . I am preparing a costume for my character in our zombie production and my character is a wind up mechanical doll in the circus. So hence the steampunk style!!!

I have made this hat using cereal box cardboard and fabrics from my stash. I kind of just went along with the ideas as they came into my head! I added some die cut cogs from a Tim Holtz die. Must admit I am very proud of myself with this and so glad I have a craft room full of stuff to help the creativity along the way.

A start for Life Book 2016

Hello everybody and hope your all having a good week so far.

I am late in starting this year with Life Book so I have started at lesson one and will catch up as I go along !

This lesson is our "Happy Traveller" and our companion holds our affirmations for the year inside the little envelope.

I must admit to be a bit daunted by this first project but thought I would just perservere and see what happens !! I think it was the elephant that was worrying me as I have never painted one before !!

I don't think I actually did a bad job with it !!! and he has a very faint cheeky smile under those big eyes !

Mail Art workshop at AFTH

Hello everyone and hope your all ok.

Yesterday I went to Art From The Heart in Harrogate to a workshop with Michelle Webb. This one was making Mail Art Envelopes and is something I just love doing but don't do enough of !! However lately I have been using a lot of recycled envelopes in my journaling pieces.

I ca see me doing a lot more of these as they are so great for using lots of different techniques and using your stuff on !

Thanks for stopping by and see you soon
