Final post for 2015

Hello everyone and here's to my final post for 2015.

At a recent workshop I attended with Kate Crane a few months ago, Kate suggested we tried to make our own collage sheets.
So I have treated myself to some "me" time and prepared a few ready for using in my 2016 ar journaling projects.

All were made using scraps from some of my photographed backgrounds and die cut using different dies.

This is a really fabulous idea and \I like the fact that they are all made by me and my own work. I think this really adds a personal touch to any art journal page.

I wish you all a very happy New Year for tomorrow and wish you all the best for it. Thank you for all your continued visits here to my blog this year and here's to a new year of continued friendships. Blogging friends are really something special and the best!!!!!

See you in 2016

A New Year for Art Journal Calender

Hello everyone and hope you all had a lovely Christmas.
So were are now getting ready for a New Year to start and this means a new start to my Art Journal Calendar pages. This was a group set up on Facebook by Kate Crane a few years ago and has been so much fun to keep on with.
However this year I decided I wanted to do something different for the New Year and after a bit of thinking.... I have decided to make an envelope Journal with an insert for writing on to. This way I can keep journaling but also have a art made pocket for keeping things from the month in.
I gessoed the recycled envelope and then started to paint a background and add some texture. I then drew a snowman and painted him onto the page adding a scarf from some piece of gelli print paper scrap in my box.
The quote reads: "Approach the new year with resolve to find the hidden opportunity in each new day."

This is the inside insert for writing onto:

I am really pleased with the way my recycled envelope worked for this idea and I am looking forward to filling it up for the month.

Thanks for stopping by today and see you soon

Angels for the New Year ahead !!

Hello everyone and hope you have all had a good christmas and enjoy the festivities up to the new Year ahead. We have had a busy couple of days so having a little slow down time for now.

I have had a little play in my craft room today and painted this angel for the new year. This is January Angel. I am hoping to fill this little book I found in my room with  year of angels so we shall see how I go!

My angel has been inspired from an  online class I take part in - Journal soup with Kate Crane.

Art From the Heart Dylusions Christmas Day

Hello everyone and hope your all well.

So I have finished my time in Pantomime now and can surely say I have had a blast during it and so glad that I was able to experience my time as a makeup artist. I must however say that it is so hard work and very exhausting at times but so enjoyable as well!!!

So today has seen me taking some time out and relaxing. I went to Art from the Heart for the regular christmas journal workshop with Dyan Reaveley.

I did two pages in my 8 x 8 inch journal and we were using the blocking patchwork technique with the Dylusions paints and christmas stamp set.

Had a lovely time spent with friends, festive snacks and obligatory christmas songs!!!

I have a few things left to do next week for the big day looming and tommorrow I am going to experience the tour at Coronation Street in Manchester. I have been really looking forward to this for a few months now!!!

Thanks for stopping by and see you again soon

Dylusions challenge

Hello everyone and hope your having a good week so far.

I recently bought the new 8 x 8 Dylusions journal and really like this square size.
This months Dylusions challenge on Facebook is to use the colours (red and Green) and include a christmas theme.

I love this quirky quote from Dylusions and just had to use this Dylusions stamp set with it. A really quirky page.

Finishing my weekend...

Hello everyone and hope you have all enjoyed your weekend. I finished mine of today with another wonderful workshop with Tracy Scot at Art From the Heart.
This page I created following on from yesterdays class with the background technique that Tracy showed us using Dylusions paints. The circle in the centre just frames everything on it so well.
I recently bought some new stencils by Donna Downey and have been itching to use them. This was a perfect layout for them to try with. I have also used my Dylusions Leaves stencil on it.

I really like the way it has turned out and the black stencilled areas really stand of the page. I used my white gel pen to highlight it with.

I am joining in with challenges:
Country View challenge #33 - The colour Blue

Halloween at AFTH

Happy Halloween everyone and hope your all having a good weekend so far.

Today I was very lucky to spend the day at Art From the Heart here in Harrogate. We were treated to a fabulous class with the wonderful Tracy scot and of course we had to have a few pages with a Halloween theme.
I really enjoyed these two and added a little bit of humour with a dancer image giving her a different head ! just love that cat image too and added those eyes on top!!!

Found this......

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far. I am on holiday from college this week so having a bit of a sort out in my room(although I would probably need the full 6 weeks summer break to complete it-lol).
Anyway I remember starting this cross stitch a few years ago and well - no excuses I just drifted of into different things and well never really got back into it. I am a very big fanatic over Tudor History and this is the reason why I bought this kit.
So I thought it would be really nice to see if there was anyway I could try and finish this one. I thought I would try and put in some stitching in each week and hopefully.......?
Today I have put a few more stitches into Anne of Cleaves than were there before. I am planning on blogging my progress with this so you can see it grow and hopefully this will encourage me to keep going with it.

See you soon

Another weekly round up and sewing projects....

Hello everyone and here we are again with another weekly round up from me. Hope you are all keeping well.

So this week has seen me making a "frozen" cape for my daughter for fancy dress. The pattern was for a 7 year old so I had to do a bit of adjusting(as she is older than that!!). However she is very pleased with the finished cape.

Full picture of cape

details of collar and fastener

Detail of trim
This week I managed to photograph those Halloween bags I told you about in my last post too:

They were made from fat quarters of fabric and I have lined the insides of them. They are a really nice size and perfect for putting in some treats for the girls.

And a round up of college:
Make up- blocking out of eyebrows with wax and re-drawing in new eyebrows for characters.
Hairstyling - French plaits
Stage costume- learning to take correct measurements.
Pattern Drafting- different styles of skirts

I have a week of college now for half term and have some xmas projects I would like to start !

Thanks for popping in and visiting. I do appreciate you all still coming here as I am not such a regular blogger these days as before, but still like to keep in touch with you all. Hope you have all had a good weekend.

Weekly round up...

Hello my friends,

So it is coming to my mind that I am neglecting my little old blog but honestly sometimes just don't have the time to craft as much as before so sometimes I have something to show and then others I don't. But I still like to keep up with you all and what projects you are all working on.
So I thought I would just do a round up of this week to keep you up to date with my life!!

I have finished knitting a hat for my son but as he has taken it before I took a pic I shall have to show you that one later!!!
I have just finished sewing a Halloween Treat bag(1 of 4). I am making them for family youngsters. Again pic to follow.

College:
Make up- learning to prepare an actors face for stage make-up using foundations.
Hairstyling- victorian plaits
Stage Costume- continuing with a camisole for a dancer. Attaching the straps and frill
Pattern Drafting- transferring draft of skirt pattern onto card for template.
Historical research- finishing my research for presentation on Elizabethan costume next week.

So this has been my week. I hope you have all had a good one and I am visiting now to see what you have all be up too!
Thanks for stopping by and see you soon

New Obssession.......

Hello everyone and here's to the start of a new week. Hope you all have some good plans for it.

So to my post title..what is my new obsession? Simply corrugated card ! Can't quite seem to stop wanting to use it these days. Just love the texture it gives projects and great for background stamping in your projects too!

This tag started with a piece on my desk and I die cut it with the Sizzix Alterations Tattered Leaves Die. As it was random I left it as it cut and added it onto a tag distressed with Gathered Twigs and Peeled Paint distress inks and subtly and randomly stamped with Stampers Anonymous Autumn Blueprint stamps.

The tag was then sprayed over with Perfect pearls - Heirloom Gold spray and splattered further with peeled paint distress paint.

I added some Burlap and distressed coloured leaves die cut again from the tattered leaves die.. I also added a flower die cut with Kraft Glassine using the tattered florals die this time.

A few chit chat stickers and  a metal Ideology word band.  An Autumnal tag.

I am going to join in with challenges:

In The Woods.....

Hello everyone and hope you have a good week ahead planned. I am starting to feel better today so I hope this is recovery mode !!

I have just bought the new 8x8 in square Dylusions and decided to just have a play page today.

I started with a random background with lots of Halloween painty colours and lots of random stamps.and then added the face on top.
I had fun just adding all these Halloween features on to the face and let myself have no rules so to speak ! Just wanted to keep to all these wonderful Autumnal colours we are seeing around us at the moment.
I used the |Tim Holtz spider stamp to add to the spiders web I had drawn on the eye.
I have used Amsterdam Paints and watercolour pencils.
I am joining in with challenges:
The Colour Throwdown challenge #362
Craft Your Passion challenge #282- Anything goes
Fussy and fancy Friday challenge#149 - Autumnal colours
Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge - Autumn is in the air

Create Journal Page

Hello everyone and hope your all well. I am recovering although still have a bit of a sore throat(YUK).

Life here has been busy and I feel I have been struggling sometimes to get to the craft desk and just PLAY!!!!
So conservative effort today to give myself some quality time and craft.

This weeks Journal 52 Prompt is "TREES" and so with no idea, but knowing I just had to try this fabulous new stencil from Donna Downey, I set of with the blank page .

Now Amsterdam paints at the ready I started being random and colourful. I decided I wanted to place the dancer in the corner and had this idea of the trees at the side.
I feel an autumnal feel with this page and the idea of the Dancer mixed in with Nature.

And that's how this came about. Really pleased with the finished page and really have felt as if I have given myself the time for creating- RESULT- I will feel better for it now!

I am going to enter the following challenges:

Michelle showed us lots of layers on the background and she shared her inspiration and techniques with us to create the cherry blossom tree, birds and fence.

Dragons Dream challenge #200-Nine

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far.

So today we have a new challenge starting over at Dragons Dream Tag It On challenge and this week is our lovely team mate Gabrielle's choice.

The number chosen is "NINE" this time around.
You can find all the details of the challenge here and see the wonderful inspiration from all the design team.

Dragons Dream Tag It On Chalenge #200-Nine

So I have gone autumnal with my tag as we are now approaching this season ! I used several autumnal distress ink colours on the background and used the Stampers Anonymous Blueprint leaves stamp set. I stamped the leaves and then coloured them with the same inks as the background. Each one was cut out and some crackle glaze added in places.
I also have added some hessian tied into a bow and stamped the number nine onto a hessian pennant for the month of September.

Thanks for stopping by today and we would love you to come and join in with our tag challenge.

Weekend finish at AFTH workshops

Hello everyone and hope you have had a good weekend.

I have been lucky and spent my weekend at my favourite workshop place Art From The Heart.

Today Tracy Scott ran another workshop teaching whimsical animals. After Tracy allowed us some time to practice different animal faces I decided to do a cat ! And I wanted to do my cat in grey colours.

The cat started out with acrylic paints as a base colour and then I used my Inktense pencils to add depth and shadows. This is my first attempt at this sort of thing and I am pleased with it. I took my time building lots of layers of different depths of colour.

New release stamp sets at Paperartsy(Clare Lloyd)

Hello everyone and hope your all having a good week so far.

So although I have been busy lately I have also been busy in the background working on some samples for two brand new stamp sets from Paperartsy designed by Clare Lloyd. You can see the new releases from tonight over at the Paperartsy blog here:

http://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/

So here are the new stamp sets Clare has released:

As you can see these are fabulous sets to work with and there are so many possibilities with them both.

Here are a couple of samples which I made from them:

I just so loved the stamp of this cat and the way that the hat can be added to them. As I thought he looked rather mischievous I thought I would give him some friends as well !
I stamped the image three times and coloured them using Inktense pencils and a water brush. They were them placed onto a mixed media background which I made using Paperartsy Paints(inky pool, eggplant, limelight, tango and yellow submarine. I also added some of the little stamps from this set. This would be perfect for a card.

This is a tag I made from the next set and again used a mixed media background with Paperartsy paints(mermaid, antarctic, cheesecake, tinned peas, London bus). This is really a fabulous large image of the girl that Clare has done I love all the little extras as well on the sets and as the dress has lots of room for extras to be added as decoration if you wish. This is where I have added those wonderful little holly leaves to embellish it and also onto her hat.
Again I used Inktense pencils and a water brush to colour the stamped images.

So as I think you will agree two more superb sets of stamps released by Clare Lloyd and with so many possibilities for different projects from them.

Please pop over and visit Clare's blog as she always has wonderful projects to share with you.

Thanks for visiting today and I will see you again soon.

Stampotique challenge SDC 210- Enchanted Goddess

Hello everyone and hope you are having a good weekend.

This weeks challenge over at the Stampotique Designers blog challenge is hosted by Kim.
We have been given the theme of "anything Goes" and most of us Stampotique fans will find it difficult to choose from all the fabulous stamp ranges they have!! I know I do !

I treated myself this week to some of the new stamp ranges that have come out(and you can see them all on the stampotique website).
So I have chosen to use "Lucille" by Arwen Mccullen as I just love this image. I have placed the image on a painted background and added some Stampotique words and quote to it.

I am entering this into:

I can see clearly now..

Hello everyone. I have certainly kept up with my blogging this week!

I have been a bit behind with The Documented Life project of late so trying to pick up !!

This month's Art challenge is "Expressive Faces" and the prompt from the beginning was "What I see clearly now"

I have made a background in my journal and used a stamp for the main image of the face. I also stamped the words . By putting these images onto white paper helped to stand them out from such a busy background.

I hope you are all looking forward to the weekend. I have a busy one coming up as I am going to the Leeds festival tomorrow- hoping it doesn't rain and the wellies need to come out!!!!!!

comfort zone journal 52

Hello everyone. I would like to say hello to all my new followers and thank you for joining me here on my blog. I hope you enjoy your visits here.

So I have needed to catch up with some of my Journal 52 prompts and week 33 last week's prompt was "Comfort Zone"
As many of my followers will have seen I have been working on some ready made backgrounds and so I thought this it what I would do with one of them.

I often make tags and journal onto the back of them. This means I can slip the tags into my journal.

Sometimes when you have a really "busy" background a quote is all that is really needed and Journals what I feel at that moment .

So as I am taking new steps in my life just now this is the quote which really shows where I am at this moment.

"There is a whole world outside your comfortzone" is a stamped quote from Stampotique.

WOYWDW# 325

Good morning all,

Today it is WOYWDW and you can pop over to Julias blog here to find out what crafters have on their work desks today.
So I have pieces ready to work on with some journaling.

This is how I finished my big piece yesterday:

Although I really liked the finished piece I knew it was just to big to work on (A3) as one project and that is where the cutting up into smaller pieces gives me the ready made backgrounds.

Lots of paint and plenty of doodling and my followers will remember it started like this on Monday:

Yes the pink and yellow one !

So what will I do with these now!! I suppose you will see them throughout the next week as finished journal pieces and tags.

Journal 52 - Keys

Hello everyone,

well I didn't think I would be blogging this so quick from yesterdays post !!! As you remember it was just in the background stage but I just played for a while yesterday afternoon and this emerged. I love it and just the freedom was so enjoyable.
This weeks prompt over at Journal 52 - Keys. I have stamped out the words to my journal page and focused with the larger stamps on the "lock and unlock". These words reflect where I am at the moment as I have my enrolment for college on Wednesday .

You can find all the details to the challenge here:

New start to the week

Hello everyone and here's to the start of a new week.

Now many of my followers will have realised lately that I have just not been able to blog as often as I would have done before! Time just doesn't allow for me anymore to complete as many projects on a daily basis as used to be. But I do still craft daily and projects just take a bit longer now.
Blogging has been a big part of my life over the last few years and something I  wouldn't want to stop doing just now. So I may have to just approach my blog a bit differently for a while and some posts will be more of a "here is what am I working on "instead of " here is what I have finished today"

I thought today I would share with you how I am starting this week. Just lately I have found that working like this really suits my time frame.

As you can see I often now work on two pieces at the same time(A4 and A3),. The larger A3 piece is a masterboard and will be cut up and used in as many pieces as I want. The smaller A4 piece will be a finished journal page.

So a sneak peak into the start of them is some background colours and collage pieces. I will now work on these adding all sorts of media and mainly in a random fashion!!!

I hope you will continue to follow my development here and look forward to showing how these pieces come together.

Thank you for visiting me today and I really do appreciate all of your comments.
See you later

Hello everyone and hope you have all had a good weekend.

Now I haven't lost it with the title of my post(repeating myself)- there is a reason!!!!

This weeks new challenge at Stampotique designers Blog challenge is being hosted by Sam read and Sam has challenged us to "Repeat Yourself"- Get the idea!

I choose to use a stamp by kate Crane "Boots" and repeatedly stamped it three times. I just had to go with the idea of these holding a paper Hearts chain so perservered and stamped the heart several times and cut them out.

Set on a background of random mixed media.

Mini Journal Album

Hello everyone.

I recently came across the mini album project by Kathy Orta and was inspired to make one of my own but using my own journal backgrounds and some Gelli prints. This has turned out to be a great journal mini album for keeping in some of my ATC's, tags and mail art postcards. Here I can plan to keep them all together and tidy !!
